Senator Kempis and Samson Mow Team Up to Make Bitcoin Legal Tender in Mexico: Could This be the Next Latin American Crypto Revolution
Share
Senator Indira Kempis and Jan3 CEO Samson Mow are making strides towards making Bitcoin legal tender in Mexico, following in the footsteps of El Salvador which made BTC legal tender in 2021. After signing a memorandum of understanding to develop Bitcoin infrastructure in El Salvador, Mow has been addressing Congress on three paths to adopting a Bitcoin strategy in Mexico, which includes adding BTC to the national treasury or issuing a financial bond instrument backed by BTC. Despite a previous setback when Mexico's central bank and financial regulator rejected the idea of legalizing BTC, Senator Kempis remains undeterred in her efforts to draft legislation and establish Mexico as a fintech hub with BTC as legal tender.
